The heart of the North End, around Hanover and Salem Streets, is a 15-minute walk (0.8 miles) from Pi Alley Garage. Walk north past the Old State House and Faneuil Hall to Haymarket, cross the Rose Kennedy Greenway, and you are on Hanover Street. Haymarket itself and the Boston Public Market are about eight minutes from the garage, on the way.
Street parking in the North End is almost entirely resident-permit only, and the neighbourhood's garages fill early on weekend evenings and during the summer feasts. Parking downtown and walking in is how many Bostonians do it. The route passes the open-air Haymarket produce stalls on Fridays and Saturdays, and the year-round Boston Public Market at 100 Hanover Street, before reaching the Italian restaurants, cafés and pastry shops the neighbourhood is known for. Paul Revere's house and Old North Church, the Freedom Trail's North End stops, are a few minutes further on.
