Boston City Hall is about five minutes on foot from Pi Alley Garage. Walk north on Washington Street, bear left onto Court Street, and City Hall Plaza opens up ahead of you with Government Center station on the corner. The John Adams Courthouse at Pemberton Square and the Suffolk County courthouses are the same short walk, and the John F. Kennedy Federal Building is just beyond the plaza.
City Hall itself was completed in 1969, the year the garage opened, and remains one of the most argued-about buildings in America. The plaza around it was rebuilt in 2022 with new planting, a playground and a civic lawn, and it hosts concerts, markets and rallies through the year. Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are on the far side of Congress Street, two minutes further on.
